OUR NAME

The name Work & Class came from a conversation about whether we would put a terrine on the menu. While terrines are delicious, they aren’t exactly approachable or familiar for many people. As we searched for a good way to articulate that thought, someone said: “But terrines aren’t working class. And we’re a working class place for working class people.” We all got quiet. And then we realized: that’s the name!

So we started with “Working Class” as the restaurant’s name. (And if you say Work & Class fast, that’s pretty much what it sounds like.) But as we gave it more thought, we realized that this might narrowly define us as a beer and burger kind of spot, and that just wasn’t true. So we changed the name to “Work & Class,” thinking that it reflects what we are: a working class place with a little extra class.
